Update on Isolation (Kid Sensation #8)

Hopefully everyone is doing well and staying safe. I can’t help but be astonished and amazed at how vastly different things are since my last post. Just shows that the world really can change in the blink of an eye.

Regardless, I’m thrilled to report that Isolation (Kid Sensation #8) is done and in the hands of my editor.  It’s hard to believe that I’ll have nine Kid Sensation stories out there soon (if you count the short story Extraction, and eleven set in the Kid Sensation universe. I honestly don’t think I could have imagined this when I wrote the first book.

In addition, I think this means that I’ll have more than a million words in print. Frankly speaking, however, I’m not sure that means much to anyone besides authors. It’s an indicator that you’ve done a lot of writing – hopefully in a way that’s resonated with readers – but it’s not like you’ve won the lottery or anything. You still have to get back to the keyboard and start cranking out the next book. The good news is that if you love writing (and I most certainly do), then it’s work that you find enjoyable.

Of course, given the current environment, many may have difficulty finding things that they would slap the “enjoyable” label on. It really is a trying time, but I would encourage you to use this as an opportunity to strengthen current relationships or build new ones, among other things.  (In the Hardman household, for example, we’re supposed to be having a Wii Sports tournament this weekend.) We’re all in this together and will get through it together, although it’s probably not possible to predict exactly when the world will return to “normal.”

Anyway, I suppose I should get back to grinding on the next book, but I would be remiss if I didn’t say thanks to the many readers who continue to support me and my work. Have a great weekend, and please remember to stay safe!

  1. Hi, is there any news on when the Isolation will be released? Can’t wait to read how the adventure continues.

    1. I got the file back from my editor and am in the process of reviewing it this very minute. Assuming I can finish that and do everything else I need to do (basically read it again, tweak some stuff, etc.), I’m hoping to get it to my formatting guy no later than tomorrow. He’s been on fire lately in term so how fast he turns stuff around, so with any luck I’m hoping to get it back and published by the end of the week.

  2. Hoping for a little spoiler here: any chance there will be (at least a little) addressing of the elephant in the room–is he really an Incarnate and how he’s going to deal with that little issue? 🙂

    1. If it’s not giving too much away, I will say that the subject comes up in Isolation. However, as I’ve mentioned a couple of times, there’s an overarching theme related to the Incarnate story line, and more will get revealed in Book 9. (Or at least that’s the plan at the moment.)
