The Queue for Upcoming Books

I’ve recently had a reader indicate that they’d like more info about the titles I’m working on – how far along I am, estimated completion date, etc.  I’ve typically avoided things like that in the past because (among other things) it always seems to jinx me; plus, my writing style is such that making predictions about end dates and such is difficult.

For instance, if I’m working of Project A, I may have an inspired thought about Project B. Now, I don’t know if this is true of other writers, but one thing I’ve learned over the years is that if I get a great idea for a scene, storyline, etc., I need to write it down immediately or I will lose it. Either that perfect verbiage, that gripping plotline, that white-knuckle action sequence, or whatever will get away from me if I don’t put pen to paper forthwith.  The end result is that I usually have my main work-in progress that is very far along in terms of development, and a number of other projects that are in different stages of development. (Also, the aforementioned inspiration might concern my primary WIP, and incorporating it might change estimated completion dates and so on.)

Anyway, for those who are interested, here’s roughly where I am in relation to various projects. (Disclaimer: these are subject to change and therefore not set in stone.)

Warden 4 (working title: Roost of the Roc)

  • Completion percentage: roughly 90%.
  • Estimated completion date: soon. (I really want to say January 2022, but getting that specific – even at this juncture – makes me nervous.)
  • Publication date: Can’t estimate.  The process, as I’ve mentioned before, involves getting the finished manuscript to my editor. She stays very busy, so until I get it into her hands, I don’t know when I’ll get it back. Of course, when it’s returned to me, I have to review it and then get it to my formatting guy.  In short, I’ll have a better of idea of this after I hand it off to my editor and can probably take a stab at it then.

Smokescreen book (working title: Smoked: A Kid Sensation Spin-off Novel)

  • Completion percentage: roughly 35%.
  • Estimated completion date: Shooting to be done within two months of Warden 4
  • Publication date: Too early to guess

Kid Sensation #10 (working title: Expiation)

  • Completion percentage: roughly 25%.
  • Estimated completion date: Too early to guess
  • Publication date: Too early to guess

Vixen novel (working title: Siren’s Call: An Alpha League Supers Novel)

  • Completion percentage: roughly 20%.
  • Estimated completion date: Too early to guess
  • Publication date: Too early to guess

Urban fantasy novel (working title: The Seventh Shade)

  • Completion percentage: roughly 20%.
  • Estimated completion date: Too early to guess
  • Publication date: Too early to guess

Urban fantasy novel (working title: Carver)

  • Completion percentage: roughly 10%.
  • Estimated completion date: Too early to guess
  • Publication date: Too early to guess
  • Link to excerpt here

The above represent just a sample and by no means everything I’m working on. (I was more or less trying to show variety here.) Needless to say, my other WIPs are in various stages of development – e.g., Kid Sensation #11 is probably in the 15% completion range. Also, outside of perhaps the first three, the order is subject to change. That said, I’ll probably lean more towards getting the Kid Sensation books done since those are starting to crowd my brain.

Regardless, I hope this peek into my writing world was helpful, and I’ll try to keep readers updated regularly.

  1. I can not wait for Vixen’s book!! Are we gonna be surprised as to what all a siren can do? And do you find it sometime difficult writing a story from a women’s Pov?

    1. Glad to hear you’re excited about the Vixen book. Hopefully readers will enjoy it when it’s released. As to writing from a woman’s POV, hopefully it doesn’t sound like male arrogance, but I haven’t found it difficult in a general sense. However, I admittedly have trouble with some things that are outside my experience, like women’s clothing, makeup, etc. Uusually, I’ll turn to Mrs. Wonderful for help with anyting like that.

Me: Have you ever used X?
      Wife: Huh? What is that?
Me: It’s allegedly used for [blank].
      Wife: Never heard of it.
      Me: Oh-kay….

    1. I’ve always said I’d keep writing them as long as people were interested in reading them. That said, I’m prepping Book 12 as an inflection point for the series – where a lot of things get resolved and maybe where the series evolves in certain ways.

  2. appreciate you sharing what you are working on. Great work. Love your series and look forward to reading more.

  3. Always helps to know things are moving forward.

I can also see the need for an inflection point with Kid Sensation….looking forward to it.

    1. Thanks for the words of support. I actually do try to keep things moving forward – even when it doesn’t look like it.
