In the past, I’ve voiced my admiration for the fact that Amazon always seems willing to try new things. They don’t always work out (Exhibit A: Kindle Vella), but they do try. One of their latest innovations is was the Amazon Posts program, which allowed you to post images to support your products. In other words, posts are like ads to an extent, except they’re free.
What’s that – free ads from Amazon? Sign me up!
I mean, what’s not to like, right? This semed like all pro and no con, so I jumped in asap, creating posts for all my series. I’m not sure what the end goal was for Amazon (other than selling more products), but apparently the Great and Powerful ‘Zon didn’t get what it was after, because it’s shutting the Amazon Posts program down. The ability to create new posts was disabled on June 23, 2025, and the program will be discontinued on July 31, 2025. In brief, tomorrow’s the last day, although – going on the fact that only the posts for my Warden series are currently viewable – the process might have already started.
I don’t know how long the program was in existence, but it seems to be getting shut down really fast. (For instance, the Posts section in the Amazon ads panel is still stamped “New” – indicating it’s a new program – so apparently the training wheels never even came off.) It suggests that Amazon is making decisions on stuff like this much sooner than in the past. By way of example, they seemed to put Vella on life support for a while before finally pulling the plug. With the Posts program, they didn’t even bring in a crash cart; they just called it.
Anyway, it may be a while before Amazon offers something like this for free again – especially one with this kind of potential. As an ex-military guy, I’m tempted to send the Posts program off into the sunset with “Taps,” but I think I’ll go with something more upbeat:
Turning to a brighter subject, the boxed set of my dark fantasy Warden Series is on sale for $.99. I’m blessed in that it’s doing well, and has even managed to snag the “#1 Best Seller” tag in a couple of places. It’s been described as “Harry Potter meets The Witcher,” which is a bit ironic in that the #2 book behind Warden on the best seller list below is a Harry Potter title:
Finally, Kid Sensation #10 is still in the works, and I’ve recently posted a new chapter of Glimmerblade.
