I just posted Chapter 12 of Glimmerblade. I had hoped to get it out yesterday, but – as occasionally happens – I hit a few bumps in the road. That said, I trust that the slight delay won’t affect enjoyment of this installment.
In other news, Amazon has apparently changed its ranking algorithm for books. In the past, rankings were updated hourly. Now, they’ll only be updated once per day. (In truth, I think the actual wording is “at least once per day,” but in practice it seems like it isn’t happening more often than that.) Moreover, Amazon says it might take up to three days for any changes to appear. Apparently, this shift is to reward consistent success with titles rather than short-term sales spikes. (In other words, Amazon’s algorithms will show more ranking love to a book that sells one copy per day for a week than one that sells 7 copies in an hour.) Needless to say, this is something that is probably of greater interest to authors than readers, but it highlights how the publishing landscape is constantly shifting, as well as the need for authors to stay nimble.
